Motus Technology with their close collaboration with Kongsberg Maritime will deliver state-of-the-art cranes and handling equipment for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the U.S. Building on the success of their 2021 delivery for NOAA’s Class A vessels, they are now providing solutions for two new Class B research vessels.
The equipment package includes our advanced CTD (Telescopic Deploy and Retrieval Arm), as well as the MMC10 and MMC240 cranes, all designed to perform reliably in harsh marine environments. These systems will play a crucial role in supporting the vessels’ primary missions of ocean mapping and nautical charting, which are essential for ensuring safe navigation in U.S. ports and harbors. Additionally, they will contribute to the assessment and management of living marine resources, furthering NOAA’s vital research and conservation efforts.
‘We are honoured to be collaborating with Kongsberg Maritime on the NOOA projects. Our commitment to this project underscores our dedication to providing comprehensive, trustworthy, and reliable deck handling equipment” says Magnus Lerheim, VP Sales in Motus.
Motus Technology is honoured to continue its partnership with NOAA and Kongsberg Maritime, delivering innovative and reliable solutions that enable critical marine research and support safer, more sustainable ocean operations

About Motus Technology
Motus has evolved from the crane specialist environment in Molde that dates back to the early 1940’s when the fishing industry needed more modern cranes and load handling equipment. Later this was the basis for developement of the world leading offshore crane competence in this region of Norway. Motus was established by senior management and engineers in 2013 and the following year the company acquired Huse Engineering AS, wholly owned by the winch manufacturer I.P. Huse AS on Harøya. At the same time the ABAS Crane portfolio was taken over by Motus.
Through a long term cooperation agreement with Kongsberg Maritime and our close relation with I.P. Huse we provide decades of experience in design, fabrication and operational crane knowledge. We are proud of our crane history and look forward to serve our customers in the years to come.
