JFA Yachts has started the construction of a pilot boat for les Pilotes du Havre. This pilot boat will be a sistership of the last Sainte Honorine boat delivered in 2021. Le Havre station has 6 similar boats of type ORC 155 from Pantocarène naval architects design. This new vessel is to replace the oldest one in the fleet.
The pilot boat will be Built in polyester infused fibreglass, this boat will meet a precise weight calculation in order to be able to achieve the speed of 25 knots and to be admitted at the pilot station. The boat will be equipped with two 500hp Man engines and two V-drive shaft lines. Its crew of two (a skipper and a sailor) can bring up to eight pilots on board for boarding and disembarking procedures.
Le Havre-Antifer-Fécamp Pilot Station has existed since the XVIth century. Nowadays pilots are providing their services and advice, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in practically all weather conditions, in Le Havre, Antifer Oil Terminal, and Fécamp.
JFA Yachts was founded in 1993 at Concarneau in Brittany, a region in France rich in maritime heritage. This new contract in the composite work vessels market gives credit to the diversification initiative started by JFA in 2022.
The pilot boat is due to be delivered in Spring 2025.
