North Star Welcomes Second Hybrid CSOV, Grampian Eagle

North Star Shipping proudly announces the official acquisition of the Grampian Eagle, the second of its advanced Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) delivered this year. This latest addition reinforces the company’s dedication to providing outstanding offshore wind support, with an emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and collaboration within the UK.

The VARD 4 22 design, has been developed in close collaboration with Vard Design in Ã…lesund, Norway, with new methanol ready hybrid-propulsion solutions and an increased number of single cabins, providing hotel quality accommodation for the technicians working in field. Following the delivery of its sister ship, the Grampian Kestrel, the Grampian Eagle boasts features specifically designed to North Star’s specifications, including an optimised hull and a sophisticated hybrid propulsion system. This modern CSOV is ready to adapt to methanol fuel options, contributing to reduced emissions and aligning with the industry’s decarbonisation objectives.

Enhancing the operational capabilities of the Grampian Eagle is its accompanying daughter craft, the Adele Bellis. Designed and built in the UK through a firm partnership between Chartwell Marine Design and Great Yarmouth-based Alicat Workboats, this addition highlights North Star’s commitment to fostering local maritime innovation while enhancing offshore wind operations with agile vessels.

The vessel’s hull was constructed at Vard Shipyards Romania, followed by final outfitting in Norway, with delivery completed in under four months—showcasing exemplary project execution.

The Grampian Eagle is set to depart for Denmark, marking the beginning of its operational journey and representing a significant step in the international collaboration and clean energy initiatives that are shaping the future of offshore operations.
