Pacific Pilotage Authority Orders New 25.5m Pilot Vessel

Next Generation Shipyards prepares to build a new Camarc-designed pilot vessel for Canada’s Pacific Pilotage Authority

Dutch shipbuilder Next Generation Shipyards has announced a newbuild project for the Pacific Pilotage Authority of Canada, with the yard set to construct a new 25.5-metre pilot vessel for operations in the northern waters off Canada’s west coast. Based on a new Camarc Design 25.5-metre pilot boat design, the vessel is being developed to provide reliable and dependable pilotage services in the demanding conditions of the region.

Netherlands-based Zeppelin Power will supply the vessel’s propulsion package, comprising two Caterpillar C32B engines, each delivering 970 bkW at 1,800 rpm.

Both engines will be equipped with Caterpillar’s latest airless exhaust after-treatment system, enabling the complete propulsion installation to meet IMO Tier III emission requirements.

The propulsion package has been selected to meet the vessel’s operational requirements, with reliability and availability particularly important for a pilot boat operating in the remote northern waters of Canada’s west coast.
