New 14m Interceptor 45 Pilot will be the second Safehaven Marine pilot boat delivered to the Portuguese port
Irish pilot boat builder Safehaven Marine has secured a contract from the Port of Setúbal in Portugal to supply a new 14-metre Interceptor 45 Pilot, marking the second pilot boat the company has built for the Portuguese port.
The contract follows the successful operation of Bai de Setubal, an Interceptor 38 delivered to the Port of Setúbal in 2014. The vessel has provided more than 12 years of service to the port’s pilots and has operated successfully throughout that period.
The Interceptor 45 Pilot is Safehaven Marine’s latest pilot boat design, developed to provide a combination of high-speed performance, seakeeping and crew comfort required for demanding pilot transfer operations.
Frank Kowalski said “This will be the 2nd pilot boat we have built for the Port following ‘Bai de Setubal’, an Interceptor 38 delivered in 2014”
The new vessel will join the Port of Setúbal’s pilotage fleet, supporting the safe and efficient transfer of pilots serving the port and its surrounding approaches.
