Rodman Polyships, the specialised GRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester) shipbuilding division of Rodman Group, has successfully delivered the second of three new Rodman 111 Offshore Patrol Vessels to Spain’s Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria for maritime surveillance operations. The vessel, named ‘PEREGRINO II’, will be stationed in Málaga to strengthen customs enforcement and anti-smuggling operations along Spain’s southern coastline.
The new Rodman 111 ‘PEREGRINO II’, is an Offshore Patrol Vessel, built in G.R.P. and Composites whose purpose is to perform tasks of patrolling at sea, smuggling repression, interception, search and surveillance of compliance with the national and international laws. All these tasks will be carried out with the utmost respect for the comfort and safety of the crew, consisting of ten people.
This important contract will be completed with the delivery in 2025 of the third unit of the same Rodman 111 model, which reinforces Rodman’s experience, know-how and expertise in the design and construction of large patrol vessels, consolidating the Tax Administration Agency’s relationship and confidence in this Rodman 111 model, following the delivery a few years ago of the Rodman 138, a 43 m high patrol vessel, the largest built in fibreglass-reinforced polyester to date.
With a length overall of 35.3 metres, this Patrol Vessel model has been developed by Rodman’s design, development and engineering teams, perfectly combining high performance, reliability, building quality and seaworthiness characteristics.
The vessels will be powered by two marine diesel engines, driving Waterjets with integrated gearboxes, which will allow them to reach a maximum speed of 35 knots. Each boat will be equipped with:
- Main Engines: 2 CUMMINS Engines, model QSK60-M
- Water Jets: 2 KAMEWA Waterjets, model S3-3/CA.
- Gearboxes: 2 ZF gearboxes, model ZF 8000.
The Rodman 111 has been designed for a crew of 10. With a range of more than 1,400 miles at economic speed (19 knots), they will be able to stay at sea for long periods, an advantage from an operational and effectiveness point of view.
This new model has been developed taking into consideration the specific needs of the customer, as well as the different technical and construction quality requirements of the Rodman standard, optimising the safety and comfort of the crew and people on board.
