Safehaven Marine, Ireland’s premier naval architecture and shipbuilding firm, has successfully launched, the third 18m Interceptor 60 pilot Boat delivered to P&O Maritime within six months. The vessel will support pilotage operations at Port Rashid, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reinforcing a decade-long partnership between the two maritime leaders.
The P&O Sahm represents the fifth Interceptor pilot boat supplied to P&O Maritime by Safehaven Marine since their first collaboration in early 2016. With this latest delivery, Safehaven celebrates its 65th pilot boat delivered worldwide, underscoring its reputation for robust, high-performance vessels trusted by port authorities and maritime operators globally.
Powered by a pair of 700hp Caterpillar C18 engines, P&O Sahm boasts an operational speed of 28 knots and is capable of carrying 12 personnel in comfort. The vessel is specially outfitted for hot climate operations, featuring 80,000 BTU of air-conditioning to ensure optimal conditions for crew and passengers.
