Ireland-based Safehaven Marine, renowned for its expertise in designing and building high-performance commercial vessels, has announced that it has been awarded the contract to construct the Port of Blyth’s new pilot boat. The new vessel will be an Interceptor 48, one of Safehaven Marine’s most successful and widely respected designs. This latest contract marks the fourth Interceptor 48 pilot boat to operate along the east coast of Scotland and the UK, currently in service at the Ports of Montrose and Cromarty Firth.
The Interceptor 48 pilot boat has a length overall (LOA) of 14.9 metres, a moulded beam of 4.1 metres, and a draught of 1.35 metres, with a lightship displacement of 17.5 tonnes. Propulsion will come from twin MAN 500hp engines compliant with IMO Tier III emissions standards.
This vessel will be the 40th Interceptor 48 to be built, a milestone that highlights the enduring popularity and strong reputation of the design. Since the debut of the first Interceptor 48 in 2009, the model has consistently demonstrated exceptional reliability and performance in ports across the globe.
Safehaven Marine has been in the boat-building business for over two decades and has established itself as a leading manufacturer of high-speed pilot boats.
