Safeway, a global leader in offshore access and lifting solutions, announce the signing of a contract with CRIST S.A. Poland for the delivery of a Seagull Walk to Work (W2W) system. This system will be installed on “Sea Dragon” a new 110-meter Multi-Purpose Support Vessel (MPSV) being constructed by CRIST S.A. for DOF, a leading offshore vessel operator.
The MPSV “Sea Dragon” is based on the MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting Ltd. 995L SBC hull. It is specifically designed to support operations offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, providing critical services to the oil and gas industry in the region. Safeway’s Seagull W2W system will enhance the vessel’s capabilities by enabling safe and efficient personnel transfers, even in challenging offshore conditions.
The Seagull gangway, renowned for its enhanced safety, efficiency, and workability, is set to redefine offshore personnel transfer standards. Designed to operate seamlessly in harsh environments, including significant wave heights of up to 5 meters, the Seagull system ensures uninterrupted operations in one of the world’s most challenging offshore fields.
Willem Amerika, Safeway’s Sales Director, highlighted the unique challenges posed by the Newfoundland offshore: “The vessel’s operational area is unique and highly challenging because of harsh weather conditions and very high sea states.”
Safeway’s Seagull Walk to Work gangway integrates innovative roll compensation technology, improving flexibility and safety while enabling reduced vessel fuel consumption. This aligns with Safeway’s commitment to sustainable and efficient offshore operations. The system also supports rapid emergency response during critical situations, such as iceberg collisions, by facilitating swift personnel transfers.
This contract underscores Safeway’s position as a leader in next-generation offshore access solutions.
