Sallaum Lines Boosts RoRo Capacity With Two New LNG-Ready PCTCs

Sallaum Lines Fleet Grows With Delivery of MV Ocean Explorer and MV Ocean Legacy, Supporting Sallaum Lines’ Decarbonisation Goals

Sallaum Lines has strengthened its global RoRo capabilities with the successful delivery of two Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), MV Ocean Explorer and MV Ocean Legacy. The vessels join the company’s Ocean Class fleet and mark a major milestone in Sallaum Lines’ long-term fleet expansion and its commitment to advancing sustainable and energy-efficient maritime operations.

Both vessels are designed to meet the highest international standards of environmental performance and operational efficiency, featuring cutting-edge LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems that significantly reduce CO₂, NOx, SOx, and particulate emissions. This technological advancement aligns with Sallaum Lines’ vision of driving the decarbonization of the RoRo shipping sector.

Ocean Breeze sister vessel, MV Ocean Explorer, was constructed by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd. sharing a similar overall length of 199.90 meters with a slightly wider breadth of 38 meters. Designed to accommodate up to 7,500 car equivalent units (CEU) across 13 decks, Ocean Explorer is powered by an LNG fuel system with a total capacity of 3,536.21 cubic meters.

Built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd., MV Ocean Legacy measures approximately 199.90 meters in length and 37.7 meters in breadth, with a car-carrying capacity of 7,400 units distributed across 13 cargo decks. The vessel is equipped with LNG storage capacity ranging between 36 and 37.8 tons, ensuring extended endurance and reduced emissions during long-haul voyages.

Together, these vessels embody the next generation of eco-efficient PCTCs, integrating optimized hull forms, advanced automation, and flexible cargo configurations for improved turnaround and operational performance.

“With the delivery of MV Ocean Explorer and MV Ocean Legacy, we are proud to take another bold step toward a more sustainable future for maritime transport,” said Sami Sallaum, Chairman of Sallaum Lines. “These vessels reflect our ongoing investment in cleaner technologies and our dedication to providing reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible shipping solutions to our global partners.”

The introduction of these vessels reinforces Sallaum Lines’ position as a forward-looking carrier at the forefront of sustainable RoRo shipping. It also demonstrates the company’s continued alignment with the International Maritime Organization’s decarbonization objectives, as part of its long-term strategy to operate one of the most modern and environmentally efficient fleets in industry.

With sustainability at its core, the vessels integrate contemporary LNG dual-fuel propulsion and energy-efficient design solutions that comply with current regulatory requirements. These technologies enable a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and local pollutants, while enhancing operational reliability and fuel flexibility.

Through the integration of these next-generation technologies, Sallaum Lines demonstrates clear leadership in converting sustainability goals into practical results, while actively contributing to the maritime sector’s shift toward more efficient, lower-emission, and future-oriented RoRo shipping.
