Samson announces agreement to acquire Folch Ropes

Samson, a Wind River Holdings® company, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a purchase agreement with Folch Ropes, S.A.

For 144 years, Samson has been recognized as a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of high-performance ropes. Today, Samson engineers continue to pioneer the use of new fiber technology and the development of innovative coatings and constructions to produce ropes with unprecedented performance characteristics in diverse markets. Samson headquarters are in Ferndale, Washington.

Folch Ropes is a Spanish manufacturing company headquartered in Llinars del Vallès Barcelona. Folch began manufacturing braided ropes for the steel industry in 1942 and has enjoyed four generations of family ownership. With a focus on quality, Folch concentrates on top-quality raw material purchases and manufacturing controls. Primary customer applications include mooring and towing, commercial fishing, safety-at-height, mining, arborist, defense, and various leisure and industrial ropes.

Both companies have had a long history of success in the rope business with strong brands and are aligned with operational excellence and manufacturing quality products, including ISO 9001: 2015 certifications. In addition, the combined United States and Spanish manufacturing footprints will enable strategic growth. In particular, the European manufacturing presence will allow Samson to better supply European customers with new technology and localized support.

“We are enthusiastic about the impact of the combined strengths of Samson and Folch,” said Christian Rheault, Chief Executive Officer of Samson Rope Technologies. “The addition of Folch will not only grow our manufacturing footprint but also allows us to further leverage the success of a strong, established organization that the Folch family has built over the generations.”
