Sea1 Diamond becomes the first of four methanol-ready offshore energy support vessels entering the company’s next-generation fleet
Sea1 Offshore has marked a major milestone in its fleet renewal programme with the launch of Sea1 Diamond, the first of four next-generation Offshore Energy Support Vessels (OESVs), at COSCO Shipping’s shipyard in China.
The launch signals the start of a new vessel series designed to support a broad range of offshore energy operations, including subsea construction and the offshore wind sector.
Designed by Norwegian naval architecture firm Skipsteknisk, the ST-245 platform has been developed to meet evolving market requirements and Sea1 Offshore’s operational specifications.
Each vessel will measure 120 metres in length and feature a 1,400m² open working deck, accommodation for up to 120 personnel, a 250-tonne subsea crane, and twin integrated work-class ROV hangars with side-launch capability.
The design has also been future-proofed for the installation of an offshore gangway, enabling the vessels to undertake offshore wind support missions as demand grows.
The ST-245 class incorporates a range of technologies aimed at improving efficiency and reducing emissions. The vessels are methanol-ready, while their generator systems can operate on 100% biofuel, providing operators with greater fuel flexibility and supporting the industry’s transition towards lower-carbon offshore operations.
