SMST W2W Gangway and Motion-Compensated Crane for Bibby Marine’s eCSOV

SMST has been awarded a contract by Armon Shipyards to deliver a Telescopic Access Bridge (L1) with an automation package and a 10t Motion Compensated Crane for Bibby Marine’s new, innovative electric Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (eCSOV). This vessel, the world’s first fully electric offshore vessel, is designed to operate solely on battery power, enabling full-day operations with zero emissions. The SMST mission equipment fits seamlessly with the sustainable principles of the cutting-edge vessel by reducing emissions and enhancing operational efficiency.

On board of the eCSOV the Telescopic Access Bridge L-Series with automation features will ensure safe and efficient personnel transfers, while SMST’s Motion Compensated Crane L Series ensures excellent lifting operations in dynamic offshore conditions.

Jochem Tuinstra, Sales Manager at SMST, affirms: “We are proud to support Bibby Marine in their mission to advance sustainable offshore operations. With the delivery of our mission equipment, we are equipping this vessel with the latest in offshore access and lifting technology, ensuring safe and efficient operations in the most demanding environments, while contributing to a greener future.”

Spanish shipyard Armon chose SMST for the delivery of the W2W and lifting equipment to the newbuild electric CSOV. “At Armon Shipyards, we value reliability and proven performance in the equipment we integrate into our vessels. SMST has an established name in the industry and their track record in delivering high-quality offshore solutions made them a natural choice for this project. We are pleased to collaborate with SMST to equip this innovative vessel with the best technology available”, adds Santiago Martín García, Yard Director at Armon Shipyards.

Gavin Forward, New Build Project Director at Bibby Marine said: “As vessel owners, we are pleased to collaborate with SMST once again. Their performance on WaveMaster Horizon has been excellent since delivery, and their support and reliable communication consistently dependable. We trust SMST’s equipment to support safe and efficient operations, making them a valued partner for our new eCSOV.”

This contract highlights SMST’s role in enabling sustainable innovations for offshore operations and strengthens its collaboration with leading shipyards and vessel operators worldwide.
