SMST has been awarded a contract by shipbuilder Green Yard Kleven for the delivery of mission equipment for OMV Petrom S.A.’s new Field Support Vessel. The vessel, designed for the Neptun Deep project—the largest natural gas endeavor in the Romanian Black Sea—will feature an SMST TAB-L2 gangway with Access and Cargo Tower and a 50-tonne Knuckle Boom Crane . The field support vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2026.
The 89.5-meter multi-hull field support vessel, designed by Marin Teknikk (MT6067), combines high levels of automation and multi-functionality. SMST’s equipment will enhance the vessel’s operational flexibility, supporting access to unmanned platforms, cargo transfers, and subsea maintenance and repair operations.
“SMST’s mission equipment complements the vessel’s flexibility as it enables the field support vessel to access unmanned platforms, transfer goods, and perform subsea maintenance and repair works,” says Jochem Tuinstra, Sales Manager at SMST, “The combination of the 50t active heave compensated crane and gangway enables us to integrate the power and controls within the vessel, increasing both operational and service efficiency.”
“SMST has proven to deliver equipment with the highest quality and reliability,” says Rune Gamlem, Sales Manager at Green Yard Kleven, “Furthermore, SMST has an impressive track record, extensive in-house engineering and timely deliveries, making them a reliable partner for our project.”
