Tersan signs contract for two more CSOVs with Acta Marine

Tersan, a leading shipyard in the maritime industry, has recently signed a significant contract with Acta Marine to build two more CSOVs (Construction Service Operation Vessels). This new agreement adds to the two CSOVs that are currently under construction for Acta Marine, bringing Tersan’s order book to four sister projects for the company.

These two new CSOVs will work under Acta Marine’s recently signed agreement with RWE, providing support for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of two of RWE’s largest offshore wind projects, the newly operational 857 MW Triton Knoll, and the 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm, which is currently under construction in the UK.

Designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS, in collaboration with Acta Marine, the vessels will be equipped with advanced technology, including a Motion Compensated Gangway system supplied by SMST. These systems will be mounted on the integrated towers with height adjustment and a personnel/cargo lift, providing a short, efficient, and safe transfer of personnel and cargo, even in harsh weather conditions with waves up to 3.00 meters.

The CSOVs will also feature a 3D-motion compensated crane with 6 tons of lifting capacity, provided by SMST, and 500 m2 indoor and 500 m2 outdoor cargo areas. The vessels will accommodate up to 89 people, despite having the same area for accommodation due to the more single cabin lay-out.

These state-of-the-art vessels will feature TWIN-X stern, an integrated walk-to-work gangway system, 3D crane, and hotel-styled accommodation areas. They will provide high agility, operability, and workability during the transfer of people and cargo to the offshore wind farms, offering optimized on-board logistics, high productivity, and comfort for the crew.

The dual-fuel methanol-driven propulsion system will also provide significant CO2 reduction measures, making these CSOVs environmentally-friendly.

Tersan’s delivery of the first two vessels is scheduled for Q3 of 2024, while the latest two vessels are planned for Q4 of 2024 and Q1 of 2025. With these vessels, Acta Marine is positioning itself as a leading player in the offshore wind construction market, providing exceptional service and support for the industry.
