Veth Propulsion for Van Wijngaarden’s Multi Purpose Vessel Rijnstroom

Van Wijngaarden Marine Services partners with Veth Propulsion for a complete thruster and control suite on the new Multi Purpose Vessel Rijnstroom.

Van Wijngaarden Marine Services has awarded Veth Propulsion the contract to supply the full thruster and control package for its new Multi Purpose Vessel Rijnstroom, currently under construction.

The propulsion scope includes two Veth Z-Drives type VZ-900, an additional spare Z-Drive unit, two Veth Tunnel Thrusters type VT-400, and one Veth Compact Jet type CJ-800. This integrated package is engineered to deliver exceptional manoeuvrability, operational flexibility, and proven reliability.

Veth Propulsion’s contribution is distinctive through its fully in-house approach. The design, production, and testing of the thrusters and control systems are all carried out at Veth’s facilities in Papendrecht. This enables full control over quality throughoutthe entire process. The close geographical proximity to both the shipyard and Van Wijngaarden Marine Services further supports efficient cooperation, short communication lines, and smooth project coordination.

Dutch-Built Quality is a key value within this project. For Veth Propulsion, it represents performance, reliability, and long-term value. Together with the shipyardand the customer, the focus goes beyond initial cost considerations and centers on innovation, durability, and lifecycle performance. From the early design phase onwards, Veth actively advises on serviceability and maintenance, ensuring that Rijnstroom remains efficient, reliable, and future-proof throughout its operational life.

The collaboration with Van Wijngaarden Marine Services underlines the strength of working locally within the Dutch maritime industry. A local operator, a Dutch shipyard, and a Dutch thruster supplier form a combination that delivers logistical advantageswhile supporting regional expertise, continuity, and employment within the maritime sector.
