Yinson GreenTech’s marinEV Announces Hydromover 2.0

Yinson GreenTech’s marinEV announce the commencement of the Hydromover 2.0 project, the latest advancement in its innovative product line of zero-emission electric vessels designed for light cargo transfer. Building on the success of Hydromover 1.0, which was launched in November 2023, Hydromover 2.0 represents a leap forward in efficiency, capacity, and sustainability for port operations within Singapore.

The Hydromover 2.0 boasts significant enhancements, measuring 23 metre in length by 7.6 metre in beam. With a larger deck space, she is designed to carry up to 30 metric tons of cargo payload (including batteries) or 25% more compared to Hydromover 1.0. The vessel design has also been optimised allowing the Hydromover 2.0 to achieve greater energy efficiency compared to her predecessor, resulting in more energy cost and emission savings for the operators.

The vessel design has been awarded to Incat Crowther. Design is well underway with the selection and evaluation of key equipment in progress. Hydromover 2.0 will be classed by Bureau Veritas with the Battery System notation. The scope covers design assessment for the battery system functionality and safety feature, fire protection and certification of the system. Based on the design submissions made, we are delighted to share she has received Approval-in-Principle from Bureau Veritas.

Yinson GreenTech’s Hydromover 2.0 vessel is expected to be ready for sea-trial from Q3 2025 onwards. These will join marinEV’s growing fleet of zero-emission electric vessels including the Hydroglyder (crew transfer service), to support Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)’s decarbonisation target to have all new harbour craft be fully electric or operate on lower carbon fuels by 2030.
