Zinus will deliver Charging Towers to Auckland Transport with ABB

Zinus, a leading provider of innovative marine charging and shore power solutions, proudly announces its landmark achievement in securing the first large commercial contract of MCS (Megawatt-Charging System) worldwide. This significant milestone marks a giant step forward for Zinus as they collaborate with ABB Singapore to cater the needs of end-client, Auckland Transport in New Zealand.

Zinus will deliver a total of 5 complete MCS charging towers, equipped with cutting-edge technology and unparalleled efficiency. The charging towers provide a small footprint and seamlessly integrate all necessary equipment, including a state-of-the-art cooling system for cables. With a charging current of up to 2100A, Zinus’ MCS charging towers are designed to meet the evolving demands of modern transportation systems.

One of the distinguishing features of Zinus’ MCS charging towers is their aesthetic design, adding a touch of innovation and elegance to the urban seaside environment.

Their valued customer for this project is ABB, a renowned leader in electrification, robotics, and motion. End-client of the initiative is Auckland Transport (AT), which has embarked on a transformative journey towards sustainable transportation solutions. With 4 new fast ferries on order, including two from EV Maritime and two from Q-West Boat Builders / Hamilton Jet, AT is poised to revolutionize its maritime operations with Zinus’ MCS charging infrastructure.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with ABB Singapore and Auckland Transport on this groundbreaking project,” says Geir Arne Bjørklund, Sales Director, Zinus. “This contract marks a significant achievement for Zinus and also represents a large step towards sustainable transportation solutions worldwide. Our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and customer satisfaction drives us to deliver best-in-class charging solutions tailored to meet the needs of each unique client.”

The first MCS system is scheduled to be commissioned and in service by mid-December 2024, with an additional 4 systems being installed in 2025. This collaboration also marks Zinus’ first contract in New Zealand, further strengthening our position as a global leader in charging infrastructure for maritime operations.
