BC Ferries Names Everllence Engines for Double-Ended Ferries

Four-vessel programme to feature Everllence medium-speed engine shipsets

BC Ferries has selected four Everllence shipsets of medium-speed engines to power a new series of double-ended ferries, marking a significant step forward in its fleet renewal programme.

Each of the four vessels will be equipped with a propulsion package comprising 2 × 6L32/44CR and 2 × 8L32/44CR main engines. The ferries will be constructed by China Merchants Industry Weihai Shipyard Co., Ltd., with the first unit scheduled to enter service in 2029 and all four expected to be operational by 2031.

The four ferries comprise a New Major Vessel (NMV) class designed to replace aging vessels on the company’s busiest routes. Representing BC Ferries’ largest-ever capital investment, the NMVs are being built with future sustainability in mind, and designed to support fully electric operations when the necessary infrastructure becomes available.

LD Armateurs has reached another milestone in the development of its offshore wind service fleet with the launch of Wind of Ocean, the first of two next-generation Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) being built for Vattenfall.
