Boomeranger Boats, a leading Nordic designer and builder of professional Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs), has been awarded a significant contract by the Swedish Coast Guard (Kustbevakningen) for the construction of two specialised vessel types. The agreement includes nine 13.5-meter Coastal Patrol Boats and five 12-meter Interceptors, with options for additional units of both classes.
The boats are based on existing Boomeranger designs. However, the initial phase of the project involves customizing the boats through a Design Review process in close collaboration with the Swedish Coast Guard’s technical team.
The boats will be utilised for patrolling and control operations such as customs, border, fishery and restricted area control, maritime traffic supervision and search and rescue missions. The Interceptor will also be used for intercepting and boarding, beaching, pick-up from sea and work as a diving platform.
“We are excited to work with Boomeranger Boats on this project. Their expertise and dedication to customization and safety will ensure our new vessels meet the specific operational requirements of the Swedish Coast Guard. The robustness of the platforms strengthens their ability to operate in maritime surveillance missions and increase our operational capabilities,” said Christian Wentzel, Technical Director of the Swedish Coast Guard / Kustbevakningen.
“We are fully dedicated to meeting the high standards of the Swedish Coast Guard, ensuring their operational requirements are met with precision and excellence. This contract is a testament to Boomeranger Boats’ commitment to quality and innovation in maritime solutions,” said Jani Leskinen, CEO of Boomeranger Boats.
