Brunvoll Propulsion and Manoeuvring System to “Liafjord”

Brunvoll has signed a contract with Cemre Marin Endüstri A.S., Turkey, for propulsion and manoeuvring system for the pelagic trawler “Liafjord” for Liegruppen Fiskeri AS in Norway. The vessel is designed by Salt Ship Design.

The Brunvoll delivery consists of an integrated system package with gear and cp-propeller systems with shaft and stern tube, tunnel thrusters and control system. The propulsion system is a 2-speed system with PTO / PTH function from a combined shaft generator /electric motor. This means that the ship can supply surplus energy to the main switchboard from the main engine in PTO mode, and in PTH mode the ship runs electrically in emergency mode.

The integrated system package is designed with focus on user-friendliness, sustainability and the lowest possible energy consumption. The 2-speed system is designed for high flexibility with 2 different propeller speeds for efficient operation adapted to the ship’s operating profile. Optimization of propeller speeds means that the 0-pitch loss is reduced to a minimum, and the ship achieves significant fuel savings, reduced emissions, and reduced costs.

The first part of the delivery from Brunvoll will take place in Q4 2021, and the main delivery will be in Q1 and Q2 2022.

Brunvoll is proud to deliver to another newbuilding to Liegruppen Fiskeri AS, which has been a loyal and good customer of Brunvoll for many years. “For the new” Liafjord”, we have together with Salt Ship Design and Liegruppen come up with a propulsion and manoeuvring system that satisfies the shipowner’s requirements for modern, efficient and optimal operation of the vessel,” says Geir Arne Kaspersen,VP Sales at Brunvoll.

Kaspersen further highlights the great commitment in the fishing fleet in general, with shipowners as the driving force for the development of the good solutions for sustainable fishing. The interaction with the fisheries segment has for years given Brunvoll first-hand knowledge of the challenges in the industry that have contributed to product developments of optimised functions in propellers, reduction gears, thrusters, and automation & control systems.
