New local operation builds on Castoldi’s established Indian naval and commercial footprint
Castoldi is strengthening its position in India with the establishment of Castoldi India, a new local subsidiary designed to expand customer support and create a stronger platform for participation in defence and commercial procurement programmes.
The move gives the Italian waterjet propulsion specialist a dedicated presence in a market where it already has an established track record, while also positioning the company to participate in procurement programmes subject to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative, which requires progressive indigenisation of products and components for Indian defence and commercial projects.
“We believe strongly in the partnership between Italy and India,” said Giacomo Castoldi, CEO. “India is a country with enormous potential for waterjet propulsion technology — in both the commercial and defence sectors — and this step reflects our long-term commitment to this market.”
Castoldi has been active in India for several years, supplying waterjet systems for naval and commercial applications. A landmark reference is the Indian Navy’s FIC (Fast Interceptor Craft) programme, under which 80 vessels equipped with Castoldi waterjets have been operating successfully since 2013. The establishment of a local subsidiary marks a significant step forward in the company’s strategy to develop deeper industrial and commercial ties with Indian partners and customers.
