Evotec announce its most significant contract to date, supplying the module handling system for the subsea vessel Rem Ocean, a cutting-edge project that highlights Evotec’s position as a leader in advanced handling technology. Rem Offshore recently ordered Rem Ocean, an IMR subsea vessel from Myklebust Verft. The vessel has been contracted by DeepOcean, following two years of collaboration between DeepOcean and Evotec to develop an improved solution for handling large subsea modules. The delivery also includes three ROV handling systems.
Sales Manager at Evotec, Geir Henning Kalvatn, states that this contract ensures work for Evotec for years to come and represents the largest contract in the company’s 18-year history.
Evotec will deliver the equipment for Rem Ocean in the third quarter of 2026, and the vessel will be delivered to the shipowner in 2027.
Evotec will supply its proprietary module handling solution, featuring a control system for synchronised operations. The solution is designed to handle modules weighing up to 80 tons at depths of 2,000 meters. The equipment is based on Evotec’s unique technology in electric drive systems, offering a compact and space-saving design.
According to Geir Henning Kalvatn, one of the standout features of the solution is the use of Evotec’s SRPM (Synchronous Reluctance Permanent Magnet) technology. “This technology ensures lower energy consumption and environmental impact, contributing to sustainable operations. The compact system also reduces weight and installation time, reducing construction costs and streamlining the shipyard’s building process.”
Geir Henning also highlights the close collaboration with DeepOcean over the past two years, during which Evotec and DeepOcean developed the enhanced module handling system.

Rem Offshore has purchased equipment worth nearly NOK 250 million from Evotec for its two latest vessels, making Evotec the largest single supplier to these ships. Lars Conradi Andersen, CEO of Rem Offshore, states they are proud to have a supplier like Evotec, with such expertise located nearby.

Leiv Sindre Muren, CEO of Myklebust Verft, also emphasizes the strong cooperation among maritime players in the region. “A contract like this is, of course, important for us as a shipyard, but when we consider the overall value creation, it highlights how crucial such agreements are for both the maritime cluster at Sunnmøre and the surrounding communities.”
Evotec also points to the productive partnership with Skipsteknisk, which contributed to space-efficient and innovative solutions for the equipment. Chief Designer at Skipsteknisk, Stig Roe Hauge, expressed his satisfaction that Evotec secured the contract after excellent collaboration between all parties.
