Finnøy Gear & Propeller has won contracts for the delivery of propulsion systems for newbuildings no.363 ‘Elias Johan’ and no.364 ‘Bernt Oskar’, both of which are under construction at Vestværftet Aps in Hvide Sande, Denmark. The combined purse seiner/danish seiner vessels are built for Benonisen Fiskeri AS and Kransvik AS, respectively.
Optimal energy utilization and low emissions are especially emphasized in the tailor-made deliveries that have been particularly developed for coastal vessels. The contracts consists of G70FP-2SPEED PTO/PTH gearbox in combination with 3.40 m CPP in nozzle and fifth generation remote control system.
The 50.50 m long and 12.00 m wide vessel ‘Elias Johan’ is planned to be handed over to Benonisen Fiskeri AS by Q3/Q4 2022. In 2017, Finnøy Gear & Propeller equipped ‘Sander Andre’ at the same shipowner. Also for Kranvik AS, the vessels ‘Bernt Oskar’, ‘Ballstadøy’ and ‘Knut Olav’ are arranged with Finnøy propulsion. The shipowner is now expanding its fleet with the 50.50 m long and 12.00 m wide hybrid vessel, the new ‘Bernt Oskar’, which will be completed at the turn of the year 2022-2023.
General manager, Nils Erling Finnøy, is proud and grateful to once again be chosen as supplier for propulsion systems for the vessels that are developed in close collaboration with shipowners, Vestværftet Aps and ship broker, Maritime Competence. “With these contracts, we are consolidating our position as a leading developer and manufacturer of propulsion systems for the fishing industry in Norway. In all, we have a double-digit number of propulsion facilities under production. This give us good predictability for the coming years.”, He says.
