513 OESV is GONDAN’s largest vessel to date, built for the offshore energy market
GONDAN Shipbuilders has launched the 513 OESV (Ocean Energy Support Vessel), at its Figueras facility in Spain, marking the largest vessel built by the shipyard to date. The vessel has been constructed for Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi A/S and was designed by Norwegian naval architecture and marine engineering firm Salt Ship Design. The vessel features advanced engineering and an operationally optimised design for marine energy applications.
Representatives of Østensjø Rederi attended the launch ceremony, marking another milestone in a relationship between the shipowner and GONDAN that spans more than two decades. The 513 OESV brings the total number of vessels built by GONDAN for Østensjø Rederi to 23.
The 513 OESV measures 120 metres in length with a 23-metre beam and has been designed to support a broad range of offshore operations from a single platform. Its capabilities include safe personnel transfer and transport, walk-to-work (W2W) operations, support for construction service operation vessels (CSOVs) in the offshore wind sector, offshore construction, subsea installation and inspection, ROV operations, and cable laying and repair.
Built of steel to the classification standards of DNV, the vessel stands out for its high levels of sustainability and technological performance:
- Efficient propulsion: Equipped with a diesel-electric system featuring 6 variable-speed main engines and PM Brunvoll azimuth thrusters.
- Ready for alternative fuels: It features advanced decarbonization solutions, including battery systems (Battery Power), Shore Power and the Fuel Ready notation, which will allow it to operate in the feature with clean fuels such as methanol (MeOH).
- Cargo capacity and accommodation: It has 1,400 m² of open deck space (including the hangar) and first class accommodation capable of housing up to 173 people on board.
Following the launch, the vessel will undergo its final phase of outfitting at sea and subsequent sea trials in the coming months, in preparation for its scheduled delivery in late 2027. This launch reaffirms GONDAN’s robust workload and its ability to undertake large-scale projects to the highest quality standards.
