Great Western Attractions adds to their portfolio of tourism activities with the addition of two new Catamarans, Orca I and Orca II, both powered by twin Cat® C18 engines. Based in Seattle, Washington, Great Western Attractions is known for their local Washington adventures allowing tourists the opportunity to view the beauty of Seattle’s nature via land, air, and now sea. The company’s two Subchapter T certified, 80’x 27’ aluminum excursion vessels provide front-row views for up to 149 passengers. Caterpillar Marine is proud to power the vessels with engines, outstanding service, and a Customer Value Agreement (CVA) crafted to deliver the highest uptime and lowest operating cost.
CVAs are tailored ownership plans designed to accommodate the business needs of each customer to further promote extended equipment life and maximum investment. With the support of the Cat dealer network and with service-based outcomes at the heart of the CVA strategy, Caterpillar is working with customers to provide solutions that fit their business needs and drive truly valuable outcomes.
By supporting the engine lifecycle through a CVA, these value-add serviced based outcomes contribute to the following:
1. Minimized down time between scheduled maintenance intervals by utilizing digital monitoring solutions
2. Supporting sustainability goals through fuel/emissions management
3. Creating long term savings with an active fluid and filters supervision program.
“Our goal is to have a positive impact on the Caterpillar engine ownership experience through our CVA solutions, along with the related services that Caterpillar and dealers provide. We’re extremely excited to grow our new CVA offerings with Great Western Attractions and N C Power. This CVA solution for Orca I & Orca II, provides peace of mind that the vessels will always be ready to tour. In addition, with a focus on sustainability, the engines and CVA solution help reduce the carbon footprint,” says Nick Lythgoe, Marine CVA Development Manager for Caterpillar.
All American Marine and Teknicraft Design built the two high quality and fuel-efficient aluminum vessels. Orca I and Orca II’s craftsmanship and design give homage to the prominent native culture in the Pacific Northwest. Sustainability and efficiency are also a focus for Great Western Attractions, which is why they selected Cat C18 Tier 3 engines, a standard above the emission requirements in Washington. Local Cat dealer, N C Power Systems, is working with Great Western Attractions to provide lifecycle maintenance and technical support for the engines through the CVA.
“N C Power is proud to support Orca I & Orca II with state-of-the-art service & technical expertise. We are committed to providing value through efficient maintenance and world class monitoring through the Customer Value Agreement.” says Greg Harper, Parts & Service Sales Manager for N C Power.
“We are so thrilled to have Cat engines on Orca 1 and Orca 2 and be on the Cat maintenance program. Our captains have the comfort and peace of mind knowing we have the strength of Cat monitoring and maintaining our C18 marine engines. We look forward to continuing our fantastic relationship with Cat,” comments Kyle Griffith, Vice President of Great Western Attractions.
Orca I and Orca II will launch later this year to welcome passengers aboard for scenic excursions. For more information about Cat Customer Value Agreements, visit online at cat.com/marineCVA.
