Hundested Propeller is proud to be the supplier of propulsion equipment and tunnel thrusters to Disko Line’s new 38m hybrid passenger ferry in build at Assens Skibsværft.
The vessel which will be the largest in the fleet owned by Greenlandic Disko Line, will have a capacity of 113 passengers and a maximum service speed of 17 Knots. The hybrid system will enable silent propulsion on pure battery power at slower speeds when cruising around the Disko Bay with tourists in the summer.
“For a long time now, at Hundested Propeller we have been developing products and designs to meet the growing demand for hybrid propulsion solutions, which has a broad definition,” comments Rune Græsdal Zilcken Sales Manager at Hundested Propeller. “The flexibility of our products and designs enables us to adjust to the ever-changing demands and possibilities. Technology is constantly evolving, and we adapt through the supply of complete propulsion lines or segments of them for both new build and refit. Currently we are involved in several exciting projects with different hybrid solutions. Working with our customers together we grasp the opportunities and use our capabilities to utilise the latest technologies and keep pushing the boundaries. It is great to see the technology being adopted by this kind of vessel.”
Hundested Propeller is supplying two 1050 kW propulsion lines each consisting of fixed pitch propeller with a 1.4m diameter, propeller shafts approx. 10m long, environmentally friendly water lubricated stern tubes and two Hundested SFT4 tunnel thrusters of 118 kW each. All will be manufactured to meet DNV Ice Class ICE-1B.
