Incat Tasmania announce a major milestone in the construction of Incat Hull 096, the World’s Largest Electric Ferry, as the final passenger deck module was successfully lifted into place. This achievement marks the structural completion of the vessel, a significant step towards delivering one of the world’s most advanced and innovative high-speed ferries.
The successful placement of the front superstructure, the largest and most technically challenging module Incat has ever lifted, is a pivotal moment in the journey toward launching the world’s largest electric ferry.
“This achievement represents more than just the physical completion of the structure – it’s a testament to the innovation, expertise, and vision that define Incat’s leadership in the maritime industry,” said Incat CEO Stephen Casey.
“Spanning 130 meters in length, and capable of carrying 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles, Hull 096 sets a new global standard for sustainable maritime transportation.”
With its structure now complete, the project moves into the next critical phase: the internal fit-out. Our highly skilled teams are already hard at work on outfitting passenger amenities and preparing the duty-free shopping deck, which spans more than 2,300 square metres. In the coming months, major machinery will begin to arrive at the shipyard for installation, continuing to bring this ground-breaking vessel to life.
