Maritime Partner to Deliver Innovative Fast Passenger Boat

Vidar Hop Skyssbaater in Hardbakke has signed a contract with Maritime Partner AS in Aalesund for construction of a new 16-meter catamaran, with delivery in the second quarter of 2022.

The new boat is an Alusafe Cat 16 with a planning catamaran hull and a maximum capacity of 23 passengers. The passenger lounge is designed to all requirements for universal design. It is equipped with an electric passenger lift (gangway) at the stern and a gangway on the foredeck. In addition, the boat is equipped for cargo handling, with a crane and loading space on the aft deck.

The passenger boat will be among the most environmentally friendly of its type. The engines are in accordance with the latest emission requirements and approved in accordance with the new IMO Tier III regulations for reduced exhaust emissions. In addition, the boat will be designed with the possibility of installing batteries for electric or hybrid operation.

New contract
It is particularly gratifying to sign this order now, as we have seen a slump in the order intake due to the Corona situation, says Peder R. Myklebust, CEO of Maritime Partner AS. The design department is already busy with the design work. The contract will give high activity in the workshop from Christmas when the hull arrives for outfitting, he says.

Small passenger boats
“This new model fills a gap in the market as there are very few newly developed passenger boats of this size. We expect a good interest in this new model, which has a very efficient hull and a basic design that can be utilized in other segments”, says Arne Dybvik, sales director at Maritime Partner. We are talking here about work boats, ambulance boats and tourist vessels.
