Nova Shipyard is proud to announce the successful delivery of the ‘Cliffs of Moher Express’, a landmark newbuild hybrid vessel, commissioned by The Doolin Ferry Co. Designed by Mer et Design, this next-generation vessel is set to transform tours along Ireland’s iconic Wild Atlantic Way.
With a capacity of 297 passengers, the Cliffs of Moher Express is the largest and most advanced vessel ever to operate from Doolin, marking a major milestone for the County Clare-based company. This state-of-the-art ferry combines cutting-edge technology, sustainable innovation, and unparalleled passenger comfort. It was built in full compliance with the EU Directive 2009/45 Category B regulations.
Cliffs of Moher Express Key features:
Eco-friendly engineering: Powered by twin Baudouin 16M33.3 engines, paired with a ZF 5055A gearboxes and CJR propellers providing top-tier performance while meeting IMO Tier III emissions standards.
Advanced battery technologies enable the vessel to be used in quiet and emission free ‘electric mode’ while the Cliffs of Moher Express is in sensitive areas such as in harbours and tourist locations.
Solar panels provide additional power and top up the battery charge.
Advanced stabilization: Fitted with Humphree stabilizers and interceptors to enhance passenger stability and anti-motion sickness technology for a smooth and enjoyable ride.
All-weather comfort: A retractable canopy on the upper deck provides access to panoramic views come rain or shine, while premium seating indoors means passengers will stay warm even in chilly conditions.
Modern amenities: Onboard amenities include climate control, toilets, a bar and snack shop, full Wi-Fi coverage, and a premium sound system for enjoying our knowledgeable commentary.
