Ocean Installer Secures North Sea Decommissioning Project

North Sea award strengthens Ocean Installer’s long-standing partnership with TotalEnergies and growing decommissioning business

Ocean Installer has been awarded a sizeable contract by TotalEnergies to carry out decommissioning work on the Byggve, Skirne and Atla fields in the North Sea, further strengthening its position in the growing offshore decommissioning market.

The project will see approximately 1,000 tonnes of subsea infrastructure recovered, including pipelines and subsea structures that have reached the end of their operational life. Under the contract, Ocean Installer will undertake engineering, extensive dredging operations, recovery of subsea assets and pipelines, and transportation of the recovered materials to shore for disposal.

The company said sustainability will be a key focus throughout the project, with the majority of recovered equipment expected to be recycled or repurposed wherever possible, supporting the offshore industry’s transition towards more environmentally responsible decommissioning practices.

The award also reinforces the long-standing relationship between Ocean Installer and TotalEnergies, built through successful collaboration on previous offshore projects.

Kevin Murphy, Ocean Installer CEO said, “With this award, we continue to broaden our decommissioning track record by applying the same engineering excellence, project execution discipline and offshore capabilities that define our core business.”

“With offshore execution planned for 2027, we look forward to applying our engineering expertise, project execution capabilities, and offshore experience to deliver another safe and successful project
