The Anti-Pendulum Function is a sophisticated control mechanism designed to counteract the natural swinging motion (pendulum effect) that occurs when lifting loads in dynamic offshore conditions. In offshore wind turbine maintenance, and operations, cranes are often tasked with moving components such as components, tools spare parts etc, which are subject to wind, wave motion, and vessel movement.

Typically, when a crane moves a load, the load may sway or pendulum due to external forces like waves or wind. This pendulum motion can delay operations, increase risks, and decrease accuracy. The Anti-Pendulum Function solves this issue by actively compensating for these movements, enabling the crane to keep the load stable and under control, even in the roughest conditions.

The technology behind the Anti-Pendulum Function is based on advanced algorithms and sensors that detect the sway of the load in real time. Here’s how it works:

  4. Precise Placement: As a result, the crane can perform tasks such as lifting, swinging, and precisely placing turbine components with far greater accuracy and efficiency, minimising delays and ensuring safer operations.
