Royal T Shipyards Delivers MV Vertom Quina

MV Vertom Quina, the tenth vessel in the LABRAX series marks a successful close to a landmark partnership

Royal T Shipyards is proud to announce the successful delivery of MV Vertom Quina to the Vertom Group. This vessel marks the tenth and final ship in the LABRAX series, closing a highly successful newbuilding program and celebrating an outstanding chapter of collaboration between yard and owner.

With the handover of MV Vertom Quina, Royal T Shipyards and Vertom formally conclude the LABRAX series—a benchmark in efficient, future-ready short-sea shipping. Across ten vessels, this partnership has been defined by mutual trust, shared ambition, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

“The delivery of MV Vertom Quina is both a proud and meaningful moment for us,” said Thecla Bodewes, CEO of Royal T Shipyards. “She is not only the last vessel in the LABRAX series for Vertom, but also the result of a truly great partnership. Over the years, we have worked side by side with Vertom’s team, learning from each other and continuously refining the design. That level of cooperation is rare and something we value enormously.”

MV Vertom Quina represents the most mature execution of the LABRAX concept, benefiting from the collective experience gained throughout the entire series. Designed for maximum cargo efficiency and reduced environmental impact, the vessel measures 118.60 metres in length, with a beam of 14.30 metres, and features a full-box cargo hold of 329,700 cubic feet.

The vessel is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system and advanced energy management, delivering lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions, and improved operational flexibility. Like her sister vessels, MV Vertom Quina is engineered with future alternative fuels in mind, ensuring long-term relevance in an evolving regulatory landscape.

Throughout the series, operational feedback from Vertom’s crews, newbuilding team, and shore organisation was closely integrated into the design and construction process. This hands-on collaboration allowed for continuous optimisation, resulting in a fleet that performs consistently well across operational, environmental, and commercial criteria.

Arjan de Jong, on behalf of Vertom Group, commented: “The delivery of the MV Vertom Quina marks not only the completion of our tenth vessel at Royal T Shipyards, but also the culmination of a partnership that has exceeded every expectation. Each ship has demonstrated outstanding quality, innovation and reliability. Equally, the collaboration with Royal T Shipyards has been characterized by transparency, craftsmanship and mutual trust. As CEO of Vertom, I am proud of what we have achieved together and grateful for the professionalism and commitment shown throughout this entire journey.”

Following her successful launch and christening at Royal T Shipyards, MV Vertom Quina completed final outfitting, trials, and commissioning before delivery. She now enters service as the concluding vessel of the LABRAX series, symbolising both the success of the programme and the strong relationship behind it.
