Glasgow-based maritime training organisation World Yacht Group has launched xboatlive.com, a purpose-built digital compliance platform designed specifically for UK workboat, tugboat, pilot boat, and harbour craft operators under Workboat Code Edition 3 (WB3).
The platform is the first of its kind to embed an AI compliance assistant – WorkboatGPT-trained specifically on the MCA Workboat Code Edition 3. Operators can ask any compliance question and receive an instant answer citing the exact section and page of the Code, eliminating the need to email the MCA or engage a consultant for routine queries.
The headline new feature is a 197-clause WB3 Gap Analysis tool, available to Pro and Fleet plan subscribers. Operators upload their Safety Management System and receive a section-by-section compliance gap report mapped against every auditable requirement of WB3 Edition 3 – spanning Safety Management, LSA, Fire Safety, Construction, Machinery, Electrical Installations, Stability, Navigation, Manning, Pollution Prevention, Dangerous Goods, and Certification. Each gap is mapped to the real WB3 section and page reference, with a Critical, Major, or Minor priority rating.
The platform generates an exportable XBoat Assurance Report – a formal compliance summary that operators can attach to commercial tenders, charter agreements, and external audit submissions, or share via a unique link. No login is required to view a shared report.
Additional capabilities include live AIS fleet tracking built directly into the compliance dashboard, crew certificate management by scan or photo with automatic expiry alerts, defect reporting with photo upload from deck, digital MARPOL oil record book, voyage logging, planned maintenance, drill records with photo evidence, and a custom checklist builder. The platform operates fully offline and syncs automatically when connectivity returns.
