WMD, in partnership with Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC), unveiled an 8-metre, 40-knot aluminium rapid response fire boat at The Emergency Services Show in Birmingham, UK.
Engineered to support fire, marine, and harbour operations, the craft is designed for daily use under local authority control while remaining ready for instant emergency deployment. The vessel sets a new benchmark in speed, versatility, and cost-effective performance for modern emergency response.
The vessel’s multi-role design reflects WMD’s strategy of tailoring solutions to meet evolving operational challenges. With the ability to handle firefighting, search and rescue, and patrol functions, the 8m rapid response vessel is built to maximise efficiency while reducing the need for extensive specialist training. Its shared usage model allows local authorities and emergency services to operate the vessel without the high ongoing costs typically associated with advanced marine platforms.
Equipped with an FFS 300 diesel fire pump and dual monitors capable of delivering 5,000 litres per minute over a 70-metre range, the vessel can tackle initial fire suppression at sea. Two onboard hydrant outlets also enable it to support onshore firefighting operations, making it a flexible tool for a variety of scenarios.
By bringing this vessel to The Emergency Services Show, AMC and WMD aim to demonstrate how modern design, combined with practical, user-focused features, can enhance operational readiness while managing costs.
