Derecktor Shipyards Chosen by CREST Wind to Construct Chartwell Daughter Craft

Derecktor Shipyards announce they have been selected by CREST Wind (a joint venture between U.S.-based Crowley and Denmark-based ESVAGT) to construct a Chartwell Marine daughter craft. The catamaran will be carried by CREST’s Service Operations Vessel (SOV), currently under construction for Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.

The multihull daughter craft offers superior seakeeping performance and increased stability to provide a comfortable, safe and workable platform to Siemens Gamesa’s Operations & Maintenance workforce. The vessel will provide safe and efficient transfers of personnel and equipment between the SOV and offshore wind turbines, even in challenging conditions.

The vessel will be dual certified by the U.S. Coast Guard under subchapters T and L; a first for Derecktor, CREST, Chartwell, and the USCG’s Sector New York Officer in Charge Marine Inspection (OCMI).
