PIET BROUWER ELECTROTECHNOLOGY AND GEBHARD ELECTRO JOIN FORCES FOR ACTA MARINE HYBRID WORKBOAT

Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology and Gebhard Electro are working together to provide a hybrid multifunctional workboat with a complete electrical installation. The two companies can make good use of each other’s capacity and expertise in this extensive job.

Equal partners

The new hybrid DP2 vessel is being built by the Bijlsma Wartena shipyard in Friesland and is intended for Acta Marine, a large international client. Peter Baarssen, Project Manager at Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek: “The 36-meter-long ship is the client’s showpiece and is called ‘the most sustainable workboat in the market’. A great challenge, in which we needed an equal partner with extra manpower and an expert view. We found this in Gebhard Electro. We speak the same language and our collaboration is very pleasant.”

One job; one team

The assignment consists of the complete electrical installation including: main switchboards 440V, 230V and 24V distribution boards, water-cooled electrical drive systems, cabling, installation and commissioning. Aart Versluis, Manager Sales at Gebhard Electro and involved in the project from the start: “We tackled the entire project together and divided the tasks among ourselves. For example, we started building the drive system and the main switchboard, and our colleagues at Piet Brouwer’s are working on the realization on the other switchboards on site.

Delivery mid 2021

It is expected that both teams will be fully engaged with the current project in the upcoming months. Delivery of the new hybrid ship is scheduled for mid-2021, after which the client will use the ship for projects all over the world.
