SAAM Towage Costa Rica was awarded one white and one silver star in the Climate Change category from the Blue Ecological Flag Program (Programa Bandera Azul Ecológica or PBAE). These accolades reflect the subsidiary’s progress on its sustainability policy and its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its processes.
Joaquín Dueñas, Country Manager of SAAM Towage Costa Rica, commented that “receiving this recognition demonstrates the significant effort we have made to streamline our processes and ensure an eco-friendly culture. Thanks to our employees’ commitment, we have managed, for example, to reduce the use of fuel, water and energy and also to strengthen waste management, all accompanied by a robust environmental education program within the company.”
The results were publicized following an evaluation by the PBAE technical team. These specialists in the Climate Change category verified actions to reduce fuel, water and electricity use, as well as others related to water treatment, atmospheric pollutants and the use of products with a smaller environmental impact, among others.
The PBAE award encourages the formation of local committees, healthy competition and community organizing to care for the environment, in order to benefit present and future generations. More than 5 thousand companies apply for this award’s different categories, which evaluates hygienic and environmental conditions in order to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
