The third and last of ESVAGT’s triplets was delivered from Havyard Leirvik.

The third and last of ESVAGT’s triplets was delivered today from Havyard Leirvik. In total, the yard has delivered six offshore wind vessels and thus has a strong position in this segment.

In less than a year, the shipbuilders at Sognefjorden have delivered three wind turbine ships of HAV 831 SOV design to Danish ESVAGT. This has happened in a year where the corona pandemic has presented completely new challenges in resource and material planning. 

Project manager Vegard Skår says that Havyard Leirvik during this period has shown that they are adaptable and flexible. In addition, he emphasizes the collaboration with subcontractors who have “gone the extra mile”, to ensure a good result for the shipping company and crew.

“On ship number three, we really see the sister ship effect. We get incredibly good feedback from suppliers, shipping companies and class companies, and everyone who has been involved in building this ship can be proud of the result”, says Skår.

The quality of the work done was shown during the test trip, which was completed before it was planned.

The handover today was the third in the same series, but is the sixth wind turbine ship from the shipyard by the Sognefjord to the offshore wind pioneer in Denmark. Vegard Skår highlights the good collaboration with ESVAGT. We have now collaborated with ESVAGT on so many projects that we know both the system, expectations and employees. It is therefore a pleasure to hand over such a good ship, of such good quality to the shipping company. 

Solidly placed in the green shift

Tor Leif Mongstad, CEO of Havyard Leirvik, says “that six ships delivered to the offshore wind industry give Havyard Leirvik a very strong position in this segment, in addition to the yard being the market leader in battery ferries.”

“With our references from both battery ferries and wind turbine ships, in addition to the fact that we now have rebuilding and electrification of ferries for several ferry companies, we are firmly placed within the green shift at sea. “

Rebuilding and repairs

Havyard Leirvik is now also focusing on remodeling assignments and repairs. 

We have a good location and a built-in dock that allows us to perform traditional summer work even in winter. We also have the right staff in place and are well equipped for the future.

The yard is now in the process of working on a well boat to Frøy, which will be delivered in early November. In addition, they have several conversion assignments and ferry docks for various ferry companies together with various service and repair assignments and the dock is largely fulfilled by next year.
