UZMAR Shipyard, a leader in specialised vessel construction, has delivered the RAstar 3200-W escort tug Silex to Østensjø Rederi, a Norwegian maritime leader renowned for its innovative offshore and port operations. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd., this state-of-the-art escort tug exemplifies cutting-edge technology and operational versatility, tailored to meet the demanding requirements of Norway’s maritime infrastructure
The delivery ceremony took place at UZMAR Shipyard and was attended by senior executives from both companies, including Ahmet Noyan ALTUG, President & CEO of UZMAR, and Kristian Helland Vea, CEO of Østensjø Rederi. The event marked a celebration of collaboration, technical precision, and shared maritime vision.
The Silex escort tug is engineered to deliver exceptional performance with:
- 80-tonne bollard pull, ensuring powerful towing and escort capabilities in harsh conditions
- 32-meter length and 13.2-meter beam, optimized for maneuverability in confined port spaces and offshore operations
- Advanced equipment: A stern roller, towing pins, shark jaws, and a double-drum escort-class winch for versatile ship-handling tasks
- FiFi1 firefighting system, enhancing safety during emergencies.
- IMO Tier III-compliant propulsion, reducing emissions and aligning with sustainable maritime practices
This delivery marks the latest milestone in the longstanding collaboration between UZMAR and Østensjø Rederi. The Silex joins Østensjø’s fleet of seven harbour tugs and six mooring launches.
Built in close coordination with Østensjø Rederi and Robert Allan Ltd., the vessel incorporates custom features informed by their decades of hands-on experience in demanding maritime conditions.
