Berg Propulsion Lands Four-Tug Order for Egypt Build

Four 90 TBP escort tugs will feature integrated propulsion systems from Berg Propulsion

Swedish marine propulsion solution provider, Berg Propulsion has secured a contract with INDE Marine in Egypt, to supply propulsion systems for four 90-tonne bollard pull (TBP) tugs, in a project bringing together established international players across the tug and workboat sector.

The vessels are RAstar 3200-W ASD tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and currently being built at South Red Sea Shipyard (SRSS) in Egypt. These state-of-the-art vessels will be equipped with two robust and reliable Anglo Belgian Corporation, ABC 12DZC engines each

Under the contract, Berg will deliver a complete propulsion package for each tug, comprising twin azimuth thrusters with fixed-pitch propellers, the company’s MPC800 control system, and a high-speed shaft line. The configuration is intended to provide strong bollard pull performance, efficient operations, and enhanced manoeuvrability for harbour and escort duties.

The order underscores continued demand for high-performance tug solutions in regional markets, as operators invest in modern fleets capable of supporting increasingly complex port and offshore operations.

Berg Propulsion said the agreement reflects its ongoing collaboration with INDE Marine, SRSS and project stakeholders, and reinforces its position as a key supplier of advanced propulsion technology in the global tug segment.
