Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV), is delighted to announce the expansion of its collaboration with Finnsnes Dykk & Anleggsservice (FDA) with the contract for two new service vessels
“Bjarkøyklassen” is the name of the newly developed design, with type designation FMV W27M. These vessels, with main dimensions LxWxD 26.40m x 12.50m x 4.50m, are versatile and well-equipped to handle a wide range of tasks, including maritime contractor activities. Designed for efficiency and sustainability, the vessels feature the installation of blow moulding systems and a strong environmental focus with battery packs of approximately 1450 kWh on board.
FMV is proud to announce the construction of vessels FMV58 and FMV59, scheduled for delivery in April and August 2025, respectively. This marks a significant step forward in the shipyard’s commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative vessels to meet the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
Hugo Strand, Shipyard Director at Fitjar Mek, expresses his gratitude in continuing the collaboration with FDA. Despite recent challenges in the Norwegian shipbuilding industry, Fitjar Mek remains optimistic and looks forward to the successful completion of FMV58 and FMV59.
Shipowner, diver and business developer Keneth Larsen is pleased to continue the collaboration with FMV. “The yard has delivered good boats, on time and at the agreed price. One reason why we are now entering into new contracts with FMV is the work they did on “FDA Mimmi”. Furthermore, we see that vessels built in Norway are consistently of good quality, which also entails less looting & heft in the operational phase, as well as a high second-hand value”.
