JFA Naval Launches Pilot Boat for Port of Sète

JFA Naval steps in to complete pilot boat after construction challenges at original shipyard

JFA Naval has successfully launched a new pilot boat destined for the Port of Sète, marking a key project milestone reached on 17th April.

The vessel’s delivery follows a challenging build process that began at the Bernard Shipyard. After encountering difficulties during construction, the clients made the strategic decision to transfer the composite hull and wheelhouse to JFA Naval for completion.

At its facility, JFA Naval undertook the remaining scope of work, including the integration of all technical systems, installation of deck hardware, and final outfitting of onboard equipment—bringing the project to fruition ahead of its next operational phase.

Designed to meet the specific requirements of maritime pilotage operations, this vessel combines robustness, performance, and safety. Its design, by the Nantes-based firm Archi Delion, emphasises efficiency at sea, manoeuvrability, and pilot comfort, even in demanding operating conditions.

The launch is a key milestone in the program, paving the way for sea trials. These trials will validate the proper functioning of the equipment, the vessel’s performance, and its compliance with regulatory requirements and the expectations of its future operator. Delivery of the pilot boat is scheduled for the coming weeks, following the sea trials and final adjustments.
