Pon Power to Supply Main Engines for DFO’s New Subsea Construction Vessel

Pon Power AS, a leading marine propulsion and power solutions provider, has been awarded a contract by Vard Group AS to deliver a state-of-the-art diesel-electric power package for a new subsea construction vessel being built for Taiwanese offshore specialist Dong Fang Offshore (DFO). The order includes five CAT 3516E generator sets featuring Pon Power’s innovative GenFlex design, engineered to optimise power efficiency and operational flexibility for complex offshore operations.

The subsea construction vessel, of VARD 3 39 design, is developed for advanced subsea operations, including cable installation and repair, as well as operation and maintenance within offshore wind and telecommunications, and is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2027.

“This is the third vessel Vard is building for DFO with generator sets delivered from Pon Power. That VARD and DFO again choose to build with delivery from Pon Power is seen as a recognition of the quality we deliver to our customers and partners. The trust we have built up over many years with partners like VARD and DFO is the most important work we do to be able to develop and deliver the best solutions for our customers”, says Bernt Eidsvik, Sales Manager at Pon Power AS.
