Newbuild Seaborg delivers combined cargo transport and subsea equipment deployment capability
French naval architecture firm Mer et Design has announced the commissioning of Seaborg, a new 18-metre aluminium multi-mission cargo vessel developed to support a diverse range of maritime operations.
Designed with operational flexibility in mind, Seaborg features a reinforced cargo deck capable of handling general cargo as well as TEU container stowage. The vessel’s large open deck area enables adaptable load configurations, allowing operators to tailor deck arrangements to specific mission profiles.
The displacement vessel is also equipped with a centrally positioned moon pool measuring 2.5m x 1.8m, enabling the deployment and recovery of a range of offshore and subsea equipment. The moon pool can be closed when not required, providing additional operational versatility.
Built by ODC Marine, the French-owned shipyard specialising in aluminium passenger vessels and workboats, Seaborg has been engineered for demanding commercial and offshore applications.
Propulsion is provided by twin Cummins QSL9 engines, each rated at 330hp, while onboard auxiliary power is supplied by a 53kW generator set.
With its combination of cargo capability, adaptable deck layout and integrated equipment-handling features, Seaborg is positioned to support a wide spectrum of coastal, offshore and industrial maritime operations.
