The pioneering crew transfer vessel ‘Uniwise Commander‘, combines trimaran hull technology with enhanced safety, stability and operational efficiency for offshore energy operations
Thailand has marked a milestone in offshore personnel transport with the introduction of its first trimaran crew transfer vessel (CTV), following the official naming of the Uniwise Commander. The 35-metre aluminium vessel was formally named during a ceremony held on 24 June at Chuk Samet Port in Sattahip, Chonburi Province. Built by Marsun Public Company Limited in collaboration with Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production and Uniwise Offshore, the new CTV has been developed to provide safer, faster and more efficient transportation of offshore personnel to oil and gas production facilities in the Gulf of Thailand.
Designed by WIND Naval Architects and jointly developed by Marsun, Uniwise Offshore, and Chevron, Uniwise Commander is the first trimaran crew transfer vessel to enter service in Thailand’s offshore oil and gas sector. Its trimaran hull configuration is expected to deliver improved stability, enhanced passenger comfort and greater operational efficiency compared with conventional monohull designs, particularly during offshore transfers.
Beyond introducing a new vessel class to the Thai market, the project also supports wider industry goals of improving operational safety, reducing environmental impact and strengthening the long-term competitiveness of Thailand’s offshore energy sector.
The naming ceremony was presided over by Chatit Huayhongtong, President of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, with Tatsanee Hongkrailert, Vice President – Supply Chain and Logistics, serving as the vessel sponsor and officiating the traditional naming ceremony.
